Calm Mums, Happy Babies

From an early age, we are conditioned to believe childbirth is difficult and painful, but it the most natural process for any animal, including humans.

The mind can also be trained to experience discomfort as only pressure, and that is what is achieved in childbirth hypnosis. In addition, with labour, the more relaxed the mother is, the more comfort she will have.

Physical relaxation, using guided visualisations followed by positive hypnotic suggestions, is learned and practiced daily in preparation for birth. The subconscious mind is trained to believe that birth will be comfortable, easy and more enjoyable.

Fear and Expectation

In other cultures, childbirth is regarded as a natural, normal event in a woman’s life. The women in labour is given support from other women, and children are often present to witness the event. In this way, birth is celebrated and honoured.  Young girls then grow up with the belief system that birth is a positive event and their expectations of childbirth reflect this attitude.

As a result, their births are similar to their predecessors; without pain and fear. They have a positive expectation of childbirth. In our culture, it is very much the opposite. For many generations we have been told that delivering a baby involves many hours of painfully agonising work, to be faced with fear and trepidation. We have all heard stories from well-meaning friends and family that send shivers up our spines, and so the legacy continues. We experience pain in childbirth, in part because we very much expect to!

Self-Hypnosis for Childbirth

These sessions will teach you how to enter into self-hypnosis instantly, and create your own natural anesthesia whenever and wherever you need it. You will have control over your body, and be able to be an active participant in your birth process. As labour progresses, you relax even more, trusting in your body’s natural ability to give birth with ease and comfort.

Too good to be true?

Can women give birth without experiencing pain? They can, but there are many variables in labour and birth that can affect the outcome, and couples need to have a positive but realistic view of hypnosis for childbirth.

Benefits of using hypnosis for childbirth:

  • Less or no use of analgesic drugs means less risk of side effects on mother and baby.

  • An awake, energized mother.

  • A calm, peaceful birthing environment.

  • Breech and posterior babies can be turned using hypnosis.

  • Fewer interventions and complications during labour.

  • Babies who sleep and feed better

“…..my colour was amazing for the early part….when the pressure got really bad and when I was pushing, I didn’t use the colour but repeated parts of the Cd to myself while breathing the pressure away…” *

Kelly – February 201

‘ I tried hypnobirthing because I’m open minded and thought it would support me on a journey I had no prior experience of.

It helped, and still helps, to relax and refocus when im faced with stressfull or uncomfortable situations. I didn’t think hypnotherapy would help after the birth, but it does!

I achieved everything I hoped for. I am confident and comfortable in new challenges. I recommended hypnobirthing to a friend in Teeside who gave birth to a beautiful baby Boy and she thanked me for recommending hypnotherapy.

Hypnotherapy has made me rethink and relax.  Potentially Life Changing! *

Karen, Thank you for the hypnobirth. It was absolutely amazing. She came within 10 minutes. We were all astounded!  *

Jazz – November 2014

Hypnotherapy wasn’t what I expected, it was better! It not only kept me calm throughout my pregnancy and my baby’s birth it also helped with those little niggling things pregnant ladies seem to suffer from…. I stopped getting up to go to the toilet, my heartburn got better and I started to sleep through the night again.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have the natural birth id expected to have, but as I later found out, I would never have been able to achieve a natural birth.

I managed to stay calm and focused throughout…. I stayed focused on the end result and found my safe place

Because of the relaxation techniques Karen taught me, I also managed to relax in those vital early weeks after my baby was born. My baby has always been content and happy and my cesarean healed very quickly.

Karen made my pregnancy a pleasure. I think back to my hypnotherapy experience with great fondness. *

Katie B – December 2014

My hypnobirth experience was amazing. After 17 minutes in the White Horse birth suite, I delivered my beautiful daughter crouched on the floor cushions. The midwives watched in tears. *
