*“After suffering from anxiety most of my life and going through a particularly stressful and depressing time recently I decided to try hypnotherapy to help me cope with all the stress I was under.

During the first consultation Emma explained how the brain functions and it completely made perfect sense to me, with scientifically backed evidence to boot ! I have to say that with Emma’s help using hypnotherapy I have completely changed in so many ways , I’m able to cope so well in all areas of my life my anxiety has all but disappeared , not only that but Emma has cured my 8 year old daughter’s anxiety and sleep disorders related to anxiety. I can’t thank her enough for introducing me to the fascinating, life changing world of hypnotherapy and the myriad of problems it can solve !”   Bex, Old Town, Swindon

*This is going to sound quite corny, I apologise for that but I can quite honestly say that my sessions with Old Town Hypnotherapy have literally changed my life. When I started the course of hypnotherapy for stress and anxiety, I didn’t have any concept of what an impact this therapy would have.

I hoped for assistance to provide me with a ‘coping’ system, what I got was a management system.

I am happier, I’m more confident, I’m positive, I can see the positive aspects of my life. Yes there are things in life that can’t be helped and we do feel sad, that’s normal. The difference for me now, is, the sad things don’t become the ‘focus’ and make the good, positive things become insignificant.

With my improved confidence I have found personal and professional relationships are more balanced.

I would highly recommend hypnotherapy to anyone who thinks they have tried everything and nothing works. That is where I was, thanks to Sam, I’m not there anymore.                                                                                                        A Lewis.

*I had hypnotherapy with Karen as I was always over-organsisng my life, then often not achieving things I had set out to do, which was having a knock on effect by causing me stress. The stress was manifesting itself in different ways, such as Migraines/headaches and over blinking. The sessions I had with Karen were extremely enlightening, she explained all about the process of hypnotherapy each time I saw her so that I was able to understand why I was behaving the way I was. I thought the hypnosis would be difficult for me, but I found it relaxing and freeing. I now find I am more confident in my abilities and able to handle my stress levels, and most importantly, understand more about my behaviour. I have had very few headaches since and I have made some extremely significant life changes since having the hypnotherapy. Karen is an extremely gentle, nurturing and caring woman and I am so glad I had these sessions with her   AB

*I was not a believer in hypnotherapy and was slightly concerned that Emma was going to have me in a trance, clucking like a chicken, but after my initial consultation I realised that it wasn’t all ‘look into my eyes, not around the eyes, but in the eyes…and you’re under’.

Emma made it very clear and easy to understand how the brain works and after just a few sessions, I was starting to feel ‘normal’ again. By the end of my therapy, I felt like the old me and now nothing can stand in my way. My stress bucket is empty!

*I have suffered with IBS for 7 years, and despite many doctors and hospital appointments, hypnotherapy was never something that was suggested to me. However one night when I was at an all time low, I found the suggestion of hypnotherapy on the NHS website.

I was quite nervous about my appointment with Emma, but I really shouldn’t have been. I was made to feel so secure and safe to talk about how I was feeling. Emma explained to me how my mind had been working and how to teach myself to stop using my primitive brain – it all made so much sense! She was there to share the successes with and no matter how small or insignificant they seemed, Emma was always there to justify how big the achievements really were.

I can’t thank Emma enough for what she has done for me. Before my sessions I would often have panic attacks when faced with going to unfamiliar  places in case IBS struck, too terrified to eat in public and had a generally negative attitude to food. My life was at an all time low and the anxiety was ruling my life. However now, not only have my symptoms massively reduced but I feel like a normal person. I am beginning to love food again and enjoying socialising with friends and family out and about. Hypnotherapy really has changed my life and I would thoroughly recommend Emma to any IBS sufferers.  Alice, Swindon

*“Emma is amazing. She is warm, friendly and has the most amazing voice, that an instant calm washes over you.

When I had my first session for stress management, I was tired (and looked it), not sleeping well and very anxious. I was negative about everything and, quite literally, going around in circles, instead of coping with the issues that were causing the stress in the first place.

During the first session Emma asked me where I would place myself on a happiness scale, from 0 – 10 (0 being jumping off a bridge and 10 being ultimately happy); I believe I responded with 4 – 5, which is honestly how I felt.

After Emma explained how the brain functions I left my first session feeling elated and felt I could regain control of my life after this 1st session. So much so, that I instantly recommended a friend and, after two further sessions, I felt better than I had done in a long time, looked better and started to deal with the problems that were causing me the stress, effectively and efficiently and was feeling like an 8 – 8.5.

After just 6 sessions I felt I was a 10 on the happiness scale! No longer tired, I was sleeping again, and the stresses and strains had melted away. I cannot recommend her enough, she has literally changed my life.”  Drew Carlton, Old Town, Swindon

*I saw Karen for hypnotherapy to help with managing my anger. I was always worrying about things and if something went slightly wrong I would blow it out of proportion and panic. I was unsure what to expect from the sessions, the talking part of the session helped me to see where I was having problems. The trance is very relaxing and therefore you come out of a session feeling very calm. I found Karen professional, caring and although it was not easy, she made the sessions enjoyable.

*I was studying for my masters and got to a stage in my dissertation where I felt completely overwhelmed. I knew that I had all the information to complete it, but when I looked at it I just couldn’t see ‘the woods for the trees’. That is when a friend pointed me towards hypnotherapy. From the first session I started to feel calmer, my sleep improved and my confidence increased to a degree that after four sessions I felt ‘on my way’. I still had a mountain to climb to get it finished, but at no point from the end of the therapy till I finished did I ever doubt that I would complete it. I was amazed by my understanding of how my mind worked and why I was feeling the way I did. Karen allowed me to focus on the positive, realise that I had the confidence I needed and removed any doubt I had. I now have my masters and was amazed to have got 70% for my dissertation. I will be returning to Karen this summer to have treatment for my phobia of flying. I am looking forward to it.

*I have a lovely life: a wonderful family, I keep myself healthy, I have a good job. But I felt anxious most of the time and unable to switch off – especially where work was concerned – which left me feeling like I couldn’t cope. This made me feel even worse – I felt bad that I felt this way when people were facing very difficult lives and situations. I felt like I was constantly looking at the floor and shielding my face from the outside world. I felt sad and miserable which seemed at odds with my life.

I wanted to feel like me again – to be able to laugh and feel carefree, to feel good about myself and not take life too seriously.

Emma came into my life just at the right time. I had seen the doctor thinking that I needed some medication to take the edge off things so I could just…… breathe. That same night a flyer came through my door and rather than throw it away, my husband left it for me. We talked about it and we both agreed it was worth a try.

My experience with Emma has been truly life changing. She made total sense in explaining and helping me understand why I was feeling like I did. Making the little changes and recognising the small things that give me pleasure was hard at first – you need to accept it and make things happen. Push yourself out there and start by smiling at a stranger in the street. They will smile back, its a small but satisfying feeling.

My driver was that I hated seeing myself –  the misery walking down the street with a deep frown on her face and in her own shut-down world. I am no longer that person. Most days I feel between an 8-10 out of 10. I stop listening to those nasty voices in my head, those that tell me something bad will happen, that I am not good enough, that people don’t want to know me. Yes, some days the old me creeps in and rather than fear it, I try to understand why I am feeling like that. Its something I have to keep an eye on but the techniques Emma taught me help me get back on track.

I opened my mind and visualised what I wanted – I understand now that this is not a selfish act. I took some brave steps and found that it wasn’t so scary as I thought. I am about to start a new job, one that gives me more time for my family with an organisation that mirrors my own values. I have more time and energy for myself and others – I fit so much in! I am happy, I wake up excited by life, I am content and relaxed. My family have noticed a change and they like it. I found me, she was in here all along and just waiting for a chance to sparkle and shine again.  Anon, Swindon

*”I was hypnotised for my fear of spiders. Robin was excellent, in the initial consultation he explained what I should expect from the  sessions and put my mind at ease by giving me lots of interesting information about phobias and the hypnotherapy process. He was  very friendly and professional.

I always looked forward to the sessions, they were always fun as well as helpful and I came away from them feeling very relaxed and  happy. The sessions were so enjoyable that the fact that I’m no longer scared of spiders seems like an added bonus.”

*I am usually a very positive person, always finding the silver lining, boosting other people, but I found that I was struggling after a traumatic experience.  I couldn’t sleep at night, started having panic attacks and meltdowns and was comfort eating.  I had hit rock bottom in every aspect of my life and could not see a way forward – then a friend recommended Old Town Hypnotherapy.  I was so low at the time that I thought nothing would work, but I decided to give it a go.  I am so pleased I did – it has changed my life!  After the very first session I felt great.   Not only did they  listen, they helped me to change my focus on my current situation and also provided me with the ability to deal with “opportunities” that may arise in the future.  It is this self-empowerment, this self-belief that is so golden, life isn’t meant to be perfect, but with the right perspective you can really enjoy the rollercoaster ride, with all the highs and lows.

After my first session I walked out standing tall with a smile on my face, feeling relaxed for the first time in ages.  Every session after that was just constant improvement, putting issues into perspective, being able to deal with things.  I caught sight of myself in a shop window after one of the sessions and realised I had got ‘me’ back again!

If you are in two minds about it, I would really encourage you to just go for it, what have you got to lose?  Trust me, you won’t regret it!   Annie

“Before my weekly visits with Emma i was suffering horrendous panic attacks was incredible depressed was on a lot of medication and i hadn’t slept through the night for well over 7 months.  The sessions were so relaxing and left me feeling full of energy after every visit, my friends and family noticed the dramatic difference in me very quickly. I now no longer take any medication and sleep like a baby.  My life is so positive now and I have fulfilled 2 goals already after only 4 months from the end of my sessions that I don’t recognise the person I was before I went to see Emma, she truly is amazing.” Stella

*I went to Old Town Hypnotherapy as I was having problems with my self esteem and struggling with some issues in my  life. The ongoing sessions enabled me to change my way of thinking these problems so they became more manageable or less significant. My sessions provided me  with rime out, an opportunity for complete relaxation and re-appraisal of my life. I have been able to take this new approach to life and apply it in many areas of my personal and work life which has been incredibly beneficial.

“His soft, calming voice gently drifts you in to trance while he starts to begin work on making my thought processes and patterns to become more positive in all that I do. Helping me to see another side to any negative thoughts that I may be having as a result of any underlying anxiety issues, and calmly guiding me to a more appropriate response”.Linda S, Exeter

*I started seeing Old Town Hypnotherapy in order to get my worrying under control as my husband and I wanted to start a family. After the first session I felt a lot better, they explained everything to me and made sure I was comfortable. It was nice just knowing that I wasn’t the only person that thought the way I did. After 6 sessions’s I felt back to my normal self and felt I had my worrying under control. I will always be grateful to Old Town Hypnotherapy for their help and guidance. I am now 26 weeks pregnant with a baby girl. I can’t recommend this form of treatment enough.

*“I decided to give hypnotherapy a try after being recommended by a friend. I’ve always lacked confidence in my life, to the point where I even found making eye contact with people difficult, sometimes impossible. I’d been avoiding social situations for over twenty years and never really seemed to ‘fit in’ anywhere. I’ve always believed that this was due to the way I looked. From the age of approximately eleven years old I’d believed whole heartedly that I was ugly. This impacted my whole life hugely and led to me stay in often abusive relationships, I felt grateful that these people were even with me.

My first session with Emma was a consultation during which she explained how we often work off of the primitive part of the brain as opposed to the positive, more logical part. I left feeling confident and looking forward to my first trance session the following week. After my second session I left Emma and actually walked to my car smiling, which I NEVER do as I’d always believed this when I looked my worse, and I kept smiling to myself on the drive home. I was so overwhelmed with feelings that I had to text Emmathat night to thank her!! Since then I’ve seen Emma regularly and my life has changed dramatically, I’ve been out, gone up to the bar alone (which is a huge achievement for me) and am beginning to just ‘be myself’ around people for the first time in years. I feel so calm and happy and haven’t slept as well as I have been lately for years. I really feel as if I’ve got my life back at last.

I’m more confident and content and really can’t thank Emma enough. I would highly recommend her to anyone, and I have done. What she does is amazing!”

*I have been suffering with Panic attacks for a few years. I had been on medication for my anxiety for roughly 2 years when I made the decision to come off my prescription, about a year ago now. I did find it a bit difficult to begin with as I had a very hectic year – getting married, turning the big 30 and having the occasional quiet period at work (I am self employed). I just needed that little bit of help along the way instead of medication. Medication is NOT the right way to go as a long term solution (in my opinion) and I did not want to stay on the medication for the rest of my life, it just wasn’t me.

I was advised by a friend to go along to the wellbeing clinic, old town, Swindon to see if they could help. I was very nervous to begin with but they put me at ease straight away – they explained how I can handle my panic attacks, to breathe, relax, enjoy life, and most of all that I am not going through this on my own. They explained that it’s mind over matter and how to look at the situation in a different way.

Thanks to Old Town Hypnotherapy I have learned to control my fears. Now I can go into a busy shop without having a panic attack and feeling the need to run off, I can enter a crowded room without going into shock, and can enjoy many things that once seemed impossible due to my fears. Thanks to Sam I now have the knowledge and the power to control it.

Again thank you for everything you have done for me, words can not thank you enough. You have shown me that I shouldn’t be afraid of everything, that I don’t have to fear anything, you have put me back in control of my life and allowed me to really live and enjoy life again.

*”A special friend who knows of my ‘addiction’ recommended Emma as she thought that hypnotherapy may be the solution. I wasn’t convinced that my particular issue could be resolved but I was more than willing to meet Emma as I could see for myself how she had helped my friend, her own transformation has been amazing.

After chatting with Emma I began to understand more how the psyche worked and that, although not depressed, anxious or stressed, it became apparent that I was feeling somewhat bereft, bored and unchallenged, particularly at work.

The symptoms manifest themselves in my shocking and out of control consumption of chocolate. Chocolate bought, hidden, eaten and evidence disposed of in secret ! And it was gradually getting worse.

Within the safety and security of hypnotherapy, Emma worked with me to redress the behaviour that was all consuming. The results have been astounding, powerful and immediate. Where chocolate would be on my mind constantly, I find it near impossible to even conjure the familiar images in my head – the anticipation, the smell and the taste. My desire has vanished and I am no longer plagued by the constant thoughts that pulled me towards it. I can walk around the supermarket and not even be drawn towards it. This simply would not have been possible before.

I feel that I have finally achieved emotional freedom, and it feels fantastic. Emma is a wonderful therapist. Calm, reassuring, understanding and non judgmental. I felt immediately at ease, there have been no barriers and I feel complete faith and trust in her.

I would recommend Emma to anyone contemplating hypnotherapy.”

*”I had been considering Hypnotherapy for weight loss for some time and a friend recommended Emma, although I was initially nervous it was one of the best decisions I’ve made.

I’ve had a constant battle with my weight for years and i could get so far on my own and then the weight would slowly creep back on.

Emma helped me to learn  why my brain works the way it does and what I needed to do to keep myself on track.

The hypnotherapy itself is the most amazing feeling and every week i would leave feeling 10 feet tall and ready to tackle anything, if Emma could bottle this feeling she would be a millionaire!!

My weight is steadily coming off and I’m well on my way, and I know if I stumble with my new positive attitude I can get straight back on it.

I cannot recommend Hypnotherapy enough and especially with Emma, go on give it a try!!” Louise

*I suffered with bad depression for around 20 years. I had tried all kinds of tablets and counseling, but still wasn’t coping with life and felt entirely miserable everyday. When I met Emma, I was skeptical, how could she help me when I had tried everything else? However, two weeks into treatment, I felt as if a black curtain was slowly being lifted, and I started to realise how ill I had been, and felt so grateful for this ‘cure’. Hypnosis is just a deep state of relaxation, I am fully aware at all times, and when I am brought out of it feel like I can take on the world! Thank you Emma for making me see that I was just existing before, and now I am really living, I see the world in a whole new light, and although life still gives me lemons occasionally (!) now, I make lemonade and enjoy it! I now have the abilities to manage my life, and my condition, with a smile 🙂    J, Swindon

*Before I started hypnotherapy with Emma I had depression and was very ill with bulimia.  I had sought help for my eating disorder, which started when I was about eight years old, for many years.  Whilst I did have a lot of positive help over the years, my circumstances were very stressful, moving abroad, travelling, lots of change, a long divorce, settling back home here in the UK and then sadly entering into an abusive relationship.  I lost my father and my mother became very ill.  Everything felt hopeless even though I was in therapy and on anti-depressants; my eating disorder had a very strong hold over me.

I can honestly say that for the first time, after starting hypnotherapy with Emma, I started to become aware of my negative way of thinking and of the fact that I was worth something and that there was hope.  I realised I was ‘stuck in a rut’ with my way of looking at things, the therapy helped me, slowly but surely, to see things very clearly.

I have since taken a huge step to leave the relationship that I was in and to begin to look after myself.  I am finding that I can laugh again and enjoy the things that are precious to me and, most importantly of all, I am realising what is good for me and what is bad for me.  Anon, Swindon

*I first went to Emma when I was having trouble sleeping due to stress, both in my personal life, and at home. After a few sessions I started to notice how I was managing to reprogramme the way I thought and acted. I gradually began to deal with the things that were causing me stress, focusing on one aspect at a time, through the hypnotherapy. By the end of my sessions I was viewing life far more positively, dealing with my problems effectively and sorting out other major obstacles. As a result of the way the hypnotherapy changed my way of thinking, I have continued to make further significant life changes, all for the better! I sleep very well now and I am far more proactive about sorting out the things that have a negative influence on my life. Thank you Emma!   (Anon, Old Town, Swindon)

*I decided to try hypnotherapy to help with my insomnia and inability to “switch off”, I’ve always been a worrier and so found Emma’s website on google and decided to give it a go albeit being a little bit skeptical. My first session was a consultation in which I explained to Emma why I had turned to hypnotherapy and what I wanted out of it. She explained how the brain works and everything she said really made sense to me. Once the hypnotherapy sessions began I slowly started to feel better about things and my sleep began to improve. Hypnotherapy is more than I imagined it’d be, it literally “does what it says on the tin” –  hypnosis (the relaxation part) and therapy (counselling to a degree). I felt I could talk to Emma about anything that was swirling around in my head and she would help me make sense of it all. I have come out the other side a more positive and relaxed person so to anyone who like me is feeling unsure about trying it, I would say go for it, you’ll be glad you did!

*I decided to have some hypnotherapy sessions with Emma to help me with panic attacks that occurred when I started to get out of breath. This was so distressing as I am fitness instructor and have always enjoyed exercise – it was really upsetting me as I just couldn’t get a good workout from cycling, walking or even climbing stairs.

Emma explained how a small part of our brain, that once protected us from threat – our primitive (negative) brain, can often take over, causing us panic attacks and other very distressing symptoms. However – here is the clever bit – with a bit of training, we can put the huge intelligent, positive part of our brain in the driving seat and set ourselves free from these distressing episodes. I attended about 6 sessions with Emma and I now how my panic attacks under control. If (at times of stress or tiredness), I have the hint of an attack coming on, I have a coping strategy that ensures that I blow it out of my head and carry on. I now actually enjoy getting out of breath and as an added bonus, I feel calmer, happier and generally a lot less stressed.

If you are a bit nervous about trying hypnotherapy, don’t be! there are no swinging watch fobs or any sense of not being in control, just a lovely lady (Emma) who makes you feel so calm and comfortable and explains in detail how you can get your life back on track and feel happy again.

It really can change your life for the better.

Fiona Woodruffe Swindon.

*With very little knowledge of what hypnotherapy actually entails, I was rather unsure on what to expect. All I know is I needed to try something to help me relax and get a good nights sleep.Having had a few sesssions, my outlook in life has been turned around. From being a super organised person trying to do various things all in one go to a more relaxed and able to see things more in proportion. I’ve learned how to give myself “me time” by doing things that I enjoy with out worrying unneccessarily about the housework that I have left undone.  Thank you Emma for the insight and helping me to help myself.
